The Location

Just out of curiosity, where’s Oliver going to work on this?  I’ve been assuming he went back to his cabin to work on his laptop and Jennie’s looking after Control right now.

The Key

He can dig, but equally he can type in the key from memory if he has to or wants to do so.

He plugs the key and the file into his decryption program and…

The Argyle Notebook

…the encrypted file resolves itself into an elaborate document package with text and embedded diagrams.

I’m assuming Oliver’s going to take a look!

Initially it looks like this started out as handwritten notes in an exercise book that had a handwriting recognition program run over it and was subsequently edited and added to.  It seems to be a marked-up copy of a final-draft document, with comments and additions from numerous authors and reviewers.

There’s an opening note that looks to be the first exercise book entry and has subsequently been moved off to be a comment.

We’re in the final stretch of the project and Bronze-Stepping has asked me to take charge of pulling together the final documentation for the system upgrade.  Going to start jotting some thoughts down here about how to structure it and what we’ll need to include. [AL-S]

Then there’s a second comment, apparently referring to the whole document at some point in its evolution.

That’s a good basis to start with – time to move it out of your notebook and formalise it. [AB-S]
