She lost sight of Lexi when she left the net terminals.  She’s fairly sure Lexi wasn’t on the shuttle.

Hybridyne

The hybridyne’s main engines climb to a whine and Lia is pressed back in her seat as the vehicle picks up speed.  The pilot puts the gravity back on in the main cabin, but warns Lia it’s only 0.6G – natural local gravity.  The vehicle skims along, remaining fairly low for this short trip.  Lia can see city lights below, a bright patch behind of the downport, another patch ahead from the city, and patches here and there in the intervening space. 

Shortly the vehicle approaches a cluster of  buildings set on a wide expanse of manicured lawn.  The central one a triangular white tower set well above the ground on a tripod base and illuminated with bright spotlights from the ground below. 

The pilot checks she’s ready and the craft comes in for a vertical landing at a large, low building near the tower, descending past airlock doors to what Lia suspects is below ground-level.
