F-216-Lia: Spanial (Hyperspace to Mundo Zargo)
OK.
It was Blue Shift on 211.447 when she spoke to Kort.
The rest of Lia’s trip while Spanial in in hyperspace passes uneventfully and she lives her usual routine. She has another Zoner! hit, and has 7 remaining.
Spanial drops out of hyperspace four Cycles later at the start of Green Shift on 211.451. Lia is excused the first Job of her Watch while Jennie, Ipan and Karmen pile into Control for the jump exit. Though, I’m going to assume she’s in Control in one of the jump seats at the rear.
The counter ticks down and the ship drips out at the expected time with the usual brain-and-stomach-twisting lurch.
Jennie and Ipan have their usual race to locate the ship’s arrival position, Jennie making astronomical observations while Ipan tries to determine their location by triangulating their position using nav-comm signals. This time, Ipan wins and Jennie concurs shortly after.
Notwithstanding Ipan’s victory, Jennie seems happy with the jump.
“For sure, right on the doorstep,” Karmen congratulates her.
Gregar asks over comms if there is any urgency and Karmen says no, so he responds he’s sending Prrri to bed and he will start the FTL Drive re-tuning; Karmen acknowledges.
Jennie completes her N-Space course plot into Mundo Zargo and sounds the maneuver warning.
Shortly after, the rumble of Spanial’s thruster rises through the ship, the low background vibration that is with them for most of the time the ship is in normal space.
Karmen says, “so, I’m thinkin’ we want to get in and out of here quick as we can. Might do an advance team in the shuttle. Drop off Mer Kort, pick up our pay, maybe find a buyer for that cargo, maybe find another one to take to Roseman or Captree.”
Lia is listening attentively.
