I understand son.  Over the Cycles, given the nature of my work and your mother’s there have been many things we have not been able to talk about.

I am not surprised by your Vizierate news.  The Vizierate always had an interest in you as a potential candidate, though I know your mother was hoping you would follow in her footsteps.  So, break it to her gently son, break it to her gently.

I am proud that you are living according to your ideal, though I hope I don’t need to be concerned about your ‘mostly’ caveat?

For me, the practice has been going well.  I am always busy, but I have been trying to find time to slow down and relax some after my colleague was stern with me about it!  I have taken up Bul-bowl, and while I have never had a lot of time for purely recreational pursuits I must say I am getting into the game!

Stay prosperous and well my son.

Father, It’s something that is most likely best discussed in person. If that time comes, I am not sure if I will be at liberty or have the capacity to speak of the details.

Know that I am well. I have been picked up by the Vizierate and I am working as a contractor. It’s easiest to say I am helping analyse data and be an adviser on how to apply it practically.

Unfortunately, I am travelling around a lot. I’m off to Pristine for now and I not know when I return at this stage.

When I am back on Russell’s World, I will make time to see you.

I’m sorry that I have been distant, but I want you to know that I am always doing what I believe is the right thing at the time.

Thank you for sending my message to Mother, though I sent one similar to her as well.

Things are well and I am mostly being taken care of by my employers.

I shall do my best to maintain correspondence.

It’s good to hear from you.

So far this posting has been satisfactory, though I might wish for a little more challenge.  I’m pleased your business was productive, and if both our business can accommodate it, it would be very good to see you.  I suspect the nature of or work prevents us from saying many things we might wish to say in correspondence.  None the less, I appreciate the contact.

Careful though, with messages like that you could make your mother smile, and then where would my reputation be with the junior ranks?

I am reminded that you are a man now, capable of making your own judgements and evaluations, and so I hope that I can do the same for you.

Mother,

Business on Zargonia was productive. I’m all over the Dominion trying to accomplish my current project.

Perhaps I will come to visit you once my project is concluded, if your timetable allows.

I’m doing my best to survive my new environments with the knowledge and philosophies you and Father instilled in me.

As your son, I strive to make you proud.

Oliver.

Under Commander Halcyon,

I received a message from Minor Vizier Vinton Kahn-Serf at MaPaCoA.  It is in regard to your project liaison role.  Following our visit to MaPaCoA, Vizier Vinton asked his own Legion Liaison, Over Commander Vanna Bush to enquire with your superior, Marshall Bock in Octant 6, as to whether the Legion could assist with closer co-operation or information on this project.

Suffice to say that Vizier Vinton informs me that your superior’s response was ‘terse and unhelpful’.

Would you be willing to share with Vizant Oliver and myself any further details regarding the nature of your liaison briefing, and shed any light on why your superior may not have been as helpful as they could have been?

Minor Vizier Richard Dicard, ViC

I will be breaking up each message into a different comment because that seems easiest to me.

Father, while the work with the Vizierate is rewarding, I do hope it is temporary in some regard. I would like to branch out to the Legion and maybe some private sectors and well to see where my feet sit most comfortably.

I am glad you’ve found a hobby to pick up on. I did notice, as I grew older that time for fun never really fit into your schedule. I’m sure your aware that hobbies, recreation and self care are important for your mental health, especially when one lives a stressful environment from day to day.

The caveat was mostly acknowledgement that, though I am well supplied for, I still have to take care of myself. This most recent step of my assignment is placing a lot of emphasis on that fact.

Good to hear you are well,
    Oliver.

Mother, perhaps the challenge is finding the challenge? Though I am aware you have to adhere to routine and schedule, surely there must be some way to create a more satisfactory environment for personal and group development.

I’ll make sure that in future to keep my correspondence mundane so as not to embarrass you in front of your peers.

Should you remain true to who you think is the best reflection of yourself, I’m certain I will continue to have a reliable role model to look up to.

Glad to hear you are well,
    Oliver.

Oliver feels at the current time it’s unnecessary to respond to Dicard’s message.
