F-162-Oliver: Spanial (Hyperspace to Mundo Zargo)

Fingerprint scan technology is ubiquitous in the Dominion – it’s the standard method of authenticating financial transactions and used for many other things. Retinal scans are also used frequently on more secure areas and when it’s suitable to use the bulkier scanning equipment needed.  Spanial uses both thumbprint and retinal scan for external access and access to workstations under certain circumstances…

Ipan, during Oliver’s induction:  “…you need to authenticate with a retinal pattern the first time you need command access, or after you have been off-ship or after 10 Cycles of inactivity.  Thumbprint and ID tag are good enough after that…”

It might be possible for Oliver to adapt the code to use the ship’s existing authentication systems without leaving traces in the log.  Or there might be another solution.  It’s not really clear to Oliver how the crew currently use this functionality.

Are other methods of security available such as firewalls around the compromised systems?
