The Snark class are a series small FTL-capable starships intended for courier work and VIP transport.
The ships can travel at 3xFTL for ranges up to 20.17 light years and 2xFTL for ranges up to 25.54 light years.
Twin Hyper-Mass Thrusters supply 1G of acceleration in normal space.
The ships have two fusion reactors to support the considerable power demands of their fast FTL engines, a main reactor aft and a smaller plant amidships.
Snarks are armoured, but not armed. Many are equipped with Stealth-modified hulls (add $2M to cost.)
They are designed to be able to land directly on planets without the need for passengers to transfer at an orbital station and are winged and streamlined to facilitate atmospheric landing. This can be accomplished by bringing the ship down on it’s tail with careful application of the main thrusters or into a runway landing.
Consistent with their role of ferrying VIPs, the ships are equipped with double deck plates for maximum comfort and safety.
Internally the listed configuration of three standard cabins is subject to wide variation, from replacement of two cabins with a luxury cabin for a single VIP and shared accommodation for two crew to six small single-occupancy rooms to a single large bunkroom. The ships are typically equipped with a sickbay (which is sometimes equipped with an automed at additional [$100k] cost) and an office for the VIP. Most are configured with a small common room that doubles as a galley.
