G-109-Lia: Crystal Coast Resort, The Rotunda

The Rotunda

[Just repeating the last post here as a memory jogger.]

Reflectively, “I think there’s always exceptions, anyone who says they like everyone is probably either a liar or naive.”

He’s quiet for a time, leaving her the option of filling the silence with her unspoken comment.

Damaging Zayaire

So, if I think of some of the things about Zayaire that Lia knows:

Zayaire is…

… running a huge research facility out at Grasslands, but agricultural research is in the ambit of the Resources Bureau.

The Household…

… is likely to see that as improper  management, exceeding the scope of the Agricultural Bureau, and could well disqualify Zayaire as a suitable Governor.

However…

… what else might be going on out there?

… allegedly engaged in some rather unsavoury practices with his romantic life.

… would probably agree that the Governor should not be involved in such scandalous things.

… Lia has no hard evidence that this is true, only Adler’s accusation.

… violated the Legion’s prohibition against initiating contact with the Yarg.

… would likely think this makes Zayaire ineligible as Governor.

… the Household is likely to refer the matter to the Legion, and that probably leads to Spanial and to Lia.

… is a major figure in organised crime.

… would quite possibly initiate their own investigation, and call in the Legion.

… what evidence does Lia have, and does she really want them looking into that?

NB:  You rolled pretty well, so I added the ‘However…’ column to spell out what I think are some of the issues, instead of leaving it to the player to anticipate repercussions.

Is there anything else you consider worth adding to the list above?

Next Steps

So, as discussed we can resolve this in the abstract.

In broad, what do you want Lia to achieve from the conversation, and how will she go about it?

  1. Lia Silver-Rose says:

At this point she is wanting to mention an individual she is having a difficult relationship with. She will mention no names but allude to a man of power and control. Ultimately, she wants to set herself up as a damsel in distress, who is being pressured to stay in this location by someone who wants something she is not willing to give. Someone who has done this before with other women, with a reputation for pressuring women etc.

Since she is not certain she will get another chance at this, she will drop in Overcrat Z late in the conversation, almost as if she is unaware she has said more than she should.

She has discerned that the Envoy is shy and intimidated by her, so she is casting him in the role of saviour to her honour. For want of a better phrase 😉 She is hoping to plant a seed of doubt about Zayaire as a candidate for Governor and is willing to consolidate this impression by a staged piece of theatre with Zayaire in the Envoy’s view at a later point, if she feels like he needs an extra push.

    Does that all make sense?
