“Ah, good to hear from you.

“Yes, two things occur to me:  First, it’s possible that he is undertaking something within his remit, but so secret that his own security detail  isn’t allowed detail isn’t permitted to know about it; second, your analysis is correct and he dumped his security so as not to be caught doing something he’s not supposed to. 

“On balance of probability, I concur with your assessment that the second option is more likely, and potentially indicates corruptibility.  So I was wondering if you have any additional information suggesting what might be motivating him?”

    She frowns, pondering.

    “The part I found most interesting about the exchange was that it was entirely one-sided, which means it was payment for something already received or more likely, advance payment for something… forthcoming.”

    She turns to Oliver.

    “Did you uncover anything that might suggest what that could be?”

    “It would need to be something fairly inappropriate for an Overlordly Envoy if he had to skip out on his security to aquire it…”

    Can Lia think of what that might be? Or does she not know enough about envoys to guess?
