At Oliver’s skill level, I believe that’s a critical success.

It turns out Oliver does know something about different security layers on the various Dominion computing Nets:

• PubNet has basic encryption
• BurNet (and most of the various subnets) have slightly more difficult encryption than PubNet
• VizNet has more difficult encryption than both PubNet and BurNet
• The Vizierate operates PubNet, BurNet and VizNet and they are all architected similarly
  • VizNet also has a highly secure subnet that is even more difficult to crack
• MilNet is operated by the Legion, it is set up differently, but in practice has about the same level of encryption as VizNet
  • MilNet also has a highly secure subnet
• OverNet is operated by the Overlord’s Household and is similar to MilNet but with some differences, and is of about the same level of security
  • OverNet also has a highly secure subnet

Oliver’s background knowledge of security systems an classifications means he can probably assume the Envoy is operating on a regular OverNet account.  However, if he’s communicating about Secretariat business, he probably has a BurNet account.  Also, like everyone else, he will have a PubNet account.

Further, because Oliver has studied Argyle’s notes on the Dominion’s messaging system, he can receive a bonus to his rolls when doing this type of work.

As noted previously, Lia Lia has access to the information detailed in post G-025 and Oliver’s journal. 

She has returned Oliver’s stuff.
