G-039: Crystal Coast Resort, Oliver’s Room

Oliver

Hacking someone’s message traffic by essentially going to direct to the relevant Net message server is quite difficult but possible.  It may or may not be more difficult to hack an OverNet message server than, say, a PubNet server.  You can roll Electronic Operations (Security or Communications) or Computer Programming or Streetwise for Oliver to know about OverNet, otherwise he’ll have to research it.

Getting remote, or better still, physical access to the Envoy’s laptop or PDA would make it easier.  However, there’s the added difficulty associated with penetrating either two layers of computer security or a physical security layer plus the device’s security.

Getting the Envoy’s Mer ID will make it a little bit easier, and a biometric such as his fingerprint will be better, as these are used to develop personal encryption keys.

In game mechanics terms, the approach Oliver takes and any extra elements he has will determine the number of rolls he has to make and their difficulty.  On a critical fail he’ll almost certainly leave a trace or trip an alarm, on a regular fail there’s a chance he’ll be detected.

Lia

Assuming Oliver’s happy to share, Lia has access to the information detailed in post G-025.

I’ll detail messages when we’re done here (and that gives your GM a chance to think about what else is going on!)

Question:  Did Lia bring Oliver his things that he left in her room?

    She did indeed.

I rolled a 5 on Electronic Operations (Security)

Oliver is happy to share the information with Lia.

No comments. She would only have flicked through the journal.
