    She sighs.

    “They are. They’re the whole reason I’m here. If I’d gone where your Boss wanted, I’d be safe but I couldn’t guarantee that my crew wouldn’t suffer for my absence.”

    She blinks.

    “So here I am, not with my crew but here all the same. Best compromise I had under the circumstances.”
