3-136: In the Common Room of Argyle’s Lodge IV
Dicard uses the remainder of his extinguisher to put out the couch, putting a stop to the smoke it was generating.
The Common room is now a fire-gutted mess.
However, the interior walls here seem to be solid concrete and as Chris noticed earlier, some of the walls in this room have been reinforced with armoured steel plate so the fire doesn’t appear to have spread beyond the walls.
There was a false ceiling in this room with about 0.5m of space above for electrical wiring, ducts and so forth. There is a fire suppression system up there too but it obviously didn’t activate. The central portion of the false ceiling has burned away and reveals the twisted remains of what was apparently a large barrel that previously contained the flammable liquid. There’s some sort of (now damaged) mechanical mechanism on one end.
The computer is a pile of molten slag that is still emitting quite a lot of heat – enough to give a severe burn to anyone poking around in it (bits of metal are actually glowing slightly). That was so hot that the desk it was sitting on has been utterly destroyed and the desktop part is now on the floor along with the main unit that was under the desk.
The turret is motionless and showing signs of significant damage from the fire.
It’s now dark in here again.
Roll IQ for Oliver: Failure = both torches dropped in the fire and destroyed; Success by less than half = 1 torch saved; Success by more than half = 2 torches saved.
Chris asks if you are OK.
What now?
Roll 5 v Base 13.
“I’m fine, nothing like a bullet to the chest would be. Guess I need to be more careful.”
There’s three doors in this room? “Also nothing like what’ll happen if we don’t come back with that book.”
I’ll check the nearest door which I assume is the left one.
