F-149-Lia: Spanial (Hyperspace to Mundo Zargo), Control

“Uh, alright.  Let’s have a look see…”

He pulls up the vid file recovered from the suit.

“So… we can use the sensor and comms system analysis routines to analyse the audio tracks on the vid, like I would if I was trying to extract a signal from background interference or something…”

He works for a while, occasionally mumbling technical terms to himself.

“So we have two active audio channels and a third inactive one…”

“…one’s for the suit’s external mic, no atmosphere to conduct sound, but it can sense vibrations through the suit…

“…the other is for comms chatter…”

“…the inactive is probably for the internal suit mic, but that’s off…”

“…notch filter?  Hmmm…uh…what if we slow it down?”

After a bit he replays the vid in slow motion, starting from when the Yarg starts shooting.

His attention back to Lia, Ipan says, “I’ve isolated the suit mic and cleaned up some of the audio.”

A series of thumping noises can be heard, each just ahead of the bright lines of white-blue light flashing from the alien’s weapon.

Ipan says, “I think he’s getting hit, then those bright lines show up immediately after, within fractions of a second.”

The picture and audio starts to degrade into static and glitches, crackling noises present on the audio.

“The suit’s starting to fail here, audio and video picking up interference.”

The vid dissolves into geometric distortion of electronic colours.

“That vid file is corrupted at the end, it doesn’t end cleanly, like the whole suit just glitched out and shut off.”

    Lia looks disappointed.

“Ah well. It was just a thought.”
