According to the instructions on the flare, you peel off the protective cover, pull the tab and the flare will ignite 2 seconds later.  It will burn for 3.3 moments, and according to the warnings, can cause serious injury to skin.

The door of the lodge shows signs of being hit a couple of times, it’s slightly more open than it was before, but is still essentially on the angle you left it.

Chris will stand just out of the doorway, ready to step sideways into the gap.

Alan positions himself much as before, putting his torch away and drawing his second pistol.  This time Dicard stays down near the Aerostat, he says something about bullets zipping past his face last time.

If you’re OK with that, have Oliver roll DX for to get the flare through the door without hitting the sides, exposing himself overly long in the gap or moving the door open more.
