Karmen frowns, reconsidering her earlier satisfaction, “For sure don’t want to put you at risk Lia, I think you made a real difference at our last meeting, but if you think the bill’s going to come due…”
She trails off, picks up again, “I’d really hate to lose you, and I do all I can to keep my crew safe, but if you need to go, go.”
Lia turns to look at Karmen. There’s quite a lot in there to unpack.
“The bill might come due. The trick will be proving the purchase.”
She sips her cooling coffee.
“I don’t want to leave your crew, Captain. Have no intention of doing so, if you’ll keep me.”
She gives her a small smile.
“I think I should go to Mundo Zargo but I’m curious as to what would happen if I wasn’t one of the party that went to collect the payment…”
