Receiving this means that you have met Glover and Vuist; two of my best people, who I have charged to ensure your safety and that you return to Captree without incident, or wherever further instructions may allow us to meet.

I am keen to to continue to explore the arrangements under our contract, and we will need to discuss the arrangements under the time penalties clauses in detail.

That aside, there are two matters I must raise.

One, I warned you not to linger about Mundo Zargo, and I suspect you may have gathered some inkling of why that is.  However, I will lay it out for you:

Zayaire Preston-Lischost makes Mundo Zargo his home.  He is in a similar line of business to me, but is exactly the sort of man who would take an interest in your services and be able to compensate you well for them.

It’s not my intention to deprive you of opportunity, but because of the situation between he and me, this could cause you to inadvertently violate what is effectively a ‘no poaching or trespassing’ agreement between us.  That could end badly for everyone.

So I ask you to avoid involvement with that man; I’m sure I can make up any losses to you.

Two, on a more serious note, the ship you are travelling on has contracted for me from time to time.  A recent contract they were given by one of my people has become complicated and attracted attention of the Vizierate.  As part of my operations we routinely encounter the Legion; that is simply part of the risk and cost of doing business.   However, we actively avoid arousing the interest of the Vizierate.  They are both a different and difficult opponent when they become involved in our operations.  I have information that they may be pursuing Spanial and crew over involvement in that previous job.  

The crew have done good work for me in the past, but there is little I will be able to do to protect or assist them should the Vizierate track them down in Octant 7.  I know you were not involved in that matter, so if it becomes necessary, you must prepare to protect yourself lest you become of interest to the Vizierate by association.  Glover and Vuist will assist Spanial if necessary and they are able, but their priority is you – as it should be – and they are not to put you at risk to help the others. 

I have thought hard whether to tell you any of the following, or not, as knowing this may put you at risk.  However, better you know so you can get safely assess risk and get back here.

 

• I believe the Vizierate is seeking a man named Willard Argyle.
• Argyle has done highly technical contract work for me, and others, for kiloCycles now.
• He was hiding from the authorities for a long time, though my agent who dealt with him reports that it was never clear exactly which authorities those were.
• Not that long ago, the Vizierate found him, seems they want something he knows.
• Argyle approached the agent for help in getting away.
• The agent then made the idiotic judgement call to engage Spanial to take Argyle out of Dominion space.
• I don’t know what it is that Argyle knows, why the Vizierate want him, but it is possible that they are very serious about it, especially now he’s left the Dominion.
• We don’t need them digging further into my business or yours.

   

As well as Glover and Vuist, my agents in Octant 7 have been advised to keep a lookout for you and offer any assistance needed to keep you safe.

So, don’t mess with the Vizierate, leave Spanial if you have to and get yourself back here safely so we can have some fun together.
