Karmen’s eyes narrow slightly, “If there’s stuff I need to know to keep my ship – and you – safe, then I’d better know it.
“If there’s stuff I’d better not know for the same reason, well… I guess you have to be the judge of that.”
Her face gets a stern look, “But, I’ve unzipped my top and you’re getting a free ride to Separatist space on the understanding that I help the Vizierate and the Vizierate looks the other way, so you’d better have the power to do that, otherwise…”
She doesn’t finish the sentence.
“That’s not a problem. The Spanial is in none of my reports.”
He rocks back and forth for a moment.
“I’m undercover. I will have trouble having much sway until I am done, but if it comes to it I will be able to keep you out of trouble.”
