The Black Palace
Sorry, I might only have mentioned that previously in Oliver’s context…
The Black Palace is the seat of government of the Dominion – the place on Zargonia from where the Overlord rules.
South’s phrasing is equivalent in contemporary terms to speaking of decisions coming out of ‘the White House’ or ‘the Kremlin’ or ‘Downing Street’ or ‘the Vatican’.
I should probably give it a Dominion Life entry.

Conversation
He tilts his head to the side a moment assessing Lia and her comment.
“Yes, were one of them to be chosen over the other that would send a very clear signal one way or the other.
“Though I don’t doubt that both have pretensions.”

The clip made me smile but I imagine Lia’s reaction is a little more… engaged.
She is amused by his assessment of her and will throw him a lip quirk and an eyebrow. It’s not a challenge so much as an acknowledgement that he is taking her measure.
“No doubt. Certainly that choice would not be taken very well by the losing party.”
She catches the moisture on the side of her glass and uses it to circle the rim slowly.
“As for more junior choices, well there are several of those. Who would be your pick?”
