A-297: Mundo Zargo Downport, The General Landmark Inn

OK.

Kort leads the way in.

Inside smells of cigarette smoke, stale beer and some musky scent that they probably pump in to obscure that fact.  The environmental systems are not keeping up with the smoke and the place is filled with a light haze.

The decor has been done with an eclectic collection of old furniture, whether this is because it gives the place an edgy retro look or because someone had a bunch of old furniture to get rid of is unclear.

There’s a central bar where people queue for drinks – apparently no table service, and the tables and chairs are scattered in approximately concentric rings around it.  Behind the bar is a larger-than-life statue of a swarthy, serious-looking man in a Legion Uniform topped with a red sash, one hand upraised.  Someone seems to have taped a huge beer bottle into the hand with Gecko tape.

Beyond the statue is an open area, possibly for dancing or a live band, and the lights are dimmer.

The place is fairly busy.  There seem to be a lot of manual worker types intent on drinking, but there’s a smattering of higher class people as well.

Kwint points to the bar, “protective colouration?”
