A-247: Spanial

Ipan is usually asleep, Karmen will usually be awake for a while.

She responds, arriving in Control shortly after Lia’s summons.

She’s excited at the beeping box.

She explains that Gregar and Ipan have bypassed the Spanial’s usual comms systems for communicating with the Comm Buoy so that nothing gets written to the ship’s logs; hence the silver box on the console.

She examines the box and reports that Kwint is near the eighth planet, has received their message and is seeking more precise co-ordinates for a rendezvous.  Karmen spends a little while messing about with her console.

She finally announces, “That should do it, if he can meet us there we can get out of here in 14 Cycles.”

It’s unclear where ‘there’ is…when Lia looks it seems to be a patch of empty space.

It seems Karmen is using the fact that the shuttle is a lot faster than Spanial, Kwint’s job will be to cover most of the distance to the ship (looking at Karmen’s flight plans, Hio will cover 36AU and Spanial about 12AU over the next 14 Cycles). 

[BTW, Just for context – Spanial is currently further from this system’s star than Pluto is from the Sun]

At dinner, everyone is cheered by the news that it’s ‘only’ 14 Cycles to meet up with Kwint and Hio.  Though Lia senses Jennie is putting a brave face on things and is unhappy with her performance.

Lia being attentive Lia, I imagine it’s after her usual bed time when the replica half egg is done.

Give me a Jewelry roll to see how well it’s done.

She can have her hit if she wishes.

Before taking the hit she has 12 remaining; that is usually enough for 36 Cycles.

fyi, estimated jump time from Zarg’s World to Mundo Zargo is 8 Cycles, plus a typical 3 Cycles at the other end.

14 + 8 + 3 = 25 (~8 hits)
