At the end of dinner, Ipan announces that he thinks he’s found the comm buoy.  There’s a movement to Control and a lengthy technical discussion between Gregar, Ipan, Jennie and Karmen that results in  Jennie putting the ship on a steady course to enable the comm buoy’s tight beam to send a communication update to it.

Lia has just started her Green Shift watch when a silver box that has been Gecko-taped to Ipan’s console starts beeping insistently.
