A-234: Spanial, Control
[I guess you can use one of N other sets… 😉 ]
Lia’s skills as an aerospace pilot have not equipped her for this, besides, it’s hard to see what’s going on on the consoles from here, she only has the big screens to look at and they’re not showing much of anything…not even the system’s main star.
Presently Jennie says, “I’ve got us.”
She has her back to Lia, but she can hear the frown in Jennie’s voice.
“We are about 6AU-equivalent from where we were supposed to be and about 42AU-actual from the star.”
Lia knows AU, a standard Astronomical Unit, which is about 500 light seconds in terms of distance.
One monitor’s view swings to focus on a star, one that should be a lot bigger and brighter than it is. She’s looking at light more than two Jobs old.
Ipan says, “detail scan is totally clear.”
Karmen says, “do you have the comm buoy?”
“Only probabalistically. Ipan?”
“I’ll look.”
Karmen sighs, “well, we have a fairly high residual, let’s just drift away from the exit point for a while. At least way out here even if the Legion does spot us it’ll take them a while for them to do anything about it, for sure.
“Lia, you might as well move the Hopper.”
Does this error make sense to Lia? How can the course that was plotted have landed them so far away? Does it have to do with orbits, etc? How is this likely to affect their time line?
“Will do.”
She will unbuckle and head to the Hopper.
