Stunt Action
Alan’s effective skill is 14 -2 (using a default for Driving (Heavy Vehicle)) -1 (Hnd) +1 (Combat Reflexes) -1 (Bid) -1 (Difficulty of maneuver – not too hard for the Crawler, would be a different story in the Patrol Vehicle) = 10
The roll of 10 is a success!
The other rolls are not needed.
In the rear view monitor on the Patrol vehicle’s overhead console Oliver can see the Crawler take off, bounce over the low concrete berms at the edge of he vehicle park, slither diagonally sideways into the gutter and power itself up and out of the ditch and on to the road not far behind the Patrol Vehicle.
The Crawler’s range to Cagnotti is Medium.
Patrol Vehicle
The PSO says, “there’s a weapon locker behind the seat, but you’ll need my thumbprint to get into it.”
If Oliver wants the PSO to unlock the locker the PSO will take an extra -2 modifier to his Pursue roll as he turns around while driving and thumbs the lock.
The PSO started with just the lights but now he hits another control and a warbling siren starts up.
NB: We’ll resolve all non-chase actions in a vehicle during the chase turn before resolving the chase action itself.
Pursue Action
The PSO can optionally make a Driving skill roll against the vehicle’s acceleration to gain a bonus on the actual Pursue roll:
- Critical success = +3
- Success = +2
- Fail by up to and including the vehicle’s acceleration figure = +1
- The Patrol Vehicle’s acceleration is 3
- Fail by more than the vehicle’s acceleration figure = -1
- Critical Fail = -3
The PSO rolls against his Driving skill for his Pursue roll:
- Critical Success = +3 Range bands
- Success by +5 or more = +2 Range Bands
- Success = +1 Range Band
- Failure by Stability rating or less = +0 Range Bands
- Failure by more than Stability rating = +0 Range Bands and a vehicle control roll
- Critical Failure = -1 Range Bands and a vehicle control roll at -3
In summary:
- Will the PSO unlock the weapons locker?
- Will Oliver click his belt closed or reach for the locker, if unlocked?
- Will the PSO try to roll vs acceleration to get a bonus?
- If so roll
- Roll for the PSO’s Pursuit action
Rules Clarification: the Optional Roll is vs PSOs Driving of 12-1 and he gets at least a +1 if he rolls within the vehicles acceleration mod, which would make it 12-1+3 for 14, correct?
Also, if he unlocks the locker his 10 v 11 will become a 10 v 9 so he’d need to get that +1 to do that and not fail?
