9-325: Pristine, Mine Site One, Chase Turn 1
Cagnotti bids 0.
Oliver’s side wins the initiative bid and goes first; the tie roll is not needed.
The Crawler is starting off a bit slower than Oliver and the PSO in the Patrol Vehicle and potentially has more distance to make up.
Obvious options for Alan in the Crawler are:
- He can wheel the big vehicle around and go across the little bridge onto the road and be at Extreme range at the start of Cagnotti’s action – this is relatively simple and we can assume he just does it
- He can wheel the big vehicle around as fast as he can and and go across the little bridge onto the road and try and make up distance (we’ll call this a Pursue action) – a base success on this will have the Crawler starting at Long range from Cagnotti, but might be better or worse
- He can try using the vehicle’s off-road capability to go straight over the big gutter between the Vehicle Park and the road – if he succeeds he can be at Medium (or better) at the start of Cagnotti’s action but if he fails he might be out of the chase immediately and stuck in a ditch (we’ll call this a Stunt action)
- He can do something else you determine
Let me know what you want Alan to attempt and give me three rolls for him (unless you pick the safe option), in case we need them.
What do you want Oliver and the PSO to try and do?
Obvious options include:
- Give chase and try to make up distance (Pursue action)
- Something risky like cutting the corner as they approach the intersection in the hope of making up more distance at higher risk of a wreck (Stunt action)
- Oliver will probably need to successfully persuade the PSO to try something like this
- Give up, it’s probably not the right skidoo anyway
- While the PSO is driving, have Oliver also open fire or do something else
Question: Is Oliver going to fasten his seatbelt? (The PSO is.) This is obviously much safer in the event of a crash, but may hinder some actions.
I trust Alan, he’ll try the risky option.
Let’s see….
10… 12… 11…
Not bad.
Pursue is fine for the PSO.
Oliver asks the PSO if there’s a hunting rifle in the vehicle, being the planet it is, he doesn’t consider that completely unlikely.
He will have his seatbelt ready to buckle unless he’s told “yes”
In which case he will grab the rifle and try and use the scope to try and identify the registration.
He won’t give up, as if Cagnotti had nothing to hide he would’ve stopped. (Are sirens going?)
