Dicard

“It’s a little slower in hyperspace, it’s true, but I think the increased capability gives us enhanced project flexibility.”

He’s presumably avoiding mentioning that there’s Grav Plates in the elevator, instead of a long Zero-G ladderwell, which means he doesn’t want to throw his guts up every time he moves between decks.

Unless Oliver wants to continue the conversation, Dicard is happy to let it end there.

Schedule

I’m going to say that Oliver and Dicard have their conversation just after dinner on 211.402, so he can commence his new routine from there.  So, that Bluevening, instead of studying, he reads through nine of Argyle’s books.

Inhabitant Gumm

Told through a series of flashbacks and unreliable narrators, Inhabitant Gumm tells the story of a historian, Thom Alland, and his attempt to document the life of Randolph Gumm.  At the opening of the film, young Gumm is an inhabitant of an asteroid belt mining base who is identified as a candidate for the Vizierate at a young age.  His parents send him away to be raised in that life.  He rebels against the decision, preferring his simple life on the belt.  However, he leaves for the training and the rest of the story documents his successes and setbacks as he gradually rises through the ranks of the Vizierate to become Grand Vizier before being executed at the behest of the Overlord.  During his life he is shown as being transformed from idealist to purely pursuing power, and then increasingly dis-satisfied with his life.  At his death he is shown as being almost wholly disconnected from the events of his execution and dreaming about his simple childhood on the belt.

Argyle notes the film’s impressive use of sound projection technology and creative filming.  He notes the film is generally believed to be based on the real life of Harson Kaht, Grand Vizier at the time of Overlord Kate’s assumption.

Next

So, anything else he wants to do in his rec time before reaching Pristine?  Anyone to interact with?  Any more films to watch?

  1. Oliver Starr says:

His following movie order will be Leader Gumm, Blizzard Silver and the Geneered Experiments, Blood Drinker:  A Concerto of Fear, Mearle, and Crazy.
Not pushing to get them all watched but that’s the order.
No more interaction. Just basic necessities, journals and movies.
