So Lia has seen storage widgets like this before; the bulk on this storage widget probably comes from a security device designed to physically destroy the device if it’s tampered with. That could be an EMP or an explosive or an incendiary…or other possibilities, but those are the most common.
She’ll need to plug it into her suit’s data port and then apply the thumb; if it isn’t his thumb there could be adverse consequences.
