8-150: Merchant Freighter Spanial – Control
It’s indeed a little rough, but Lia gets it done, and Spanial is now on course, eventually for the jump point, but ‘coincidentally’ via the asteroid belt of this system where Kwint will depart Spanial in the shuttle.
Jennie makes a few suggestions for the future (which boils down to ‘Spanial is not a shuttle and Lia needs to allow more time and go more gently with the bigger craft’.)
Karmen says, “OK, we’re scheduled to drop Kwint and Hio at the BY Break in four Cycles time.
“Lia, can you please wake Ipan if he isn’t up and get him to come to his watch shift now. Then over the next little while I want you to take that manual you and Kwint brought back, scan an electronic copy of it, and start reading. Spanial may be a little large for you, so we’ll see if that Hopper might be more your size, for sure.”
With that, Karmen leaves Control. Jennie nods, and busies herself with the command station.
Lia will take any advice Jennie can give on the piloting, it’s still very intimidating for her. She looks a little stunned about the Hopper – I doubt she has ever had an opportunity to drive a land vehicle of any kind, so this will be completely unfamiliar territory.
She’ll make a face at Jennie summing up those feelings before she heads to Ipan’s quarters and knocks.
