7-192: Snow Lake Streets
Gear
The briefing was: You are each being authorised as concealed- and open-carry armed officers of the Vizierate. You are authorised to carry concealed firearms in any area categorised below security category 4. You may open-carry firearms, provided you wear appropriate identifying clothing and/or gear.
ie: It’s fine to carry concealed weapons in civvies, but if they’re open-carrying they need to be wearing their vests. This is possibly so they don’t accidentally get into a gunfight with the Legion.
Given the line in the cab we’ll say he’s been wearing it?
Taxi
Some of the other cabs they see on the way, and the electric bus they saw, don’t seem exactly showroom new either.
The driver opens the luggage area and hands out their gear, seems in a hurry now to get away, is glancing around and at their vests. It’s possible he was hoping for a tip, but I doubt that even occurred to Oliver. He gets back in the cab and drives quickly away.
They’re standing on the side of a suburban street, just wide enough for two vehicles to pass but with a fairly wide footpath either side. It’s dark, and the night is overcast but there’s no precipitation. Their breath is visible, the water vapour forming ice crystals, it’s probably about 2°C. There is street lighting, but it’s not comprehensive and there are plenty of patches of darkness and shadow. The buildings here seem to be apartment blocks, mostly between 4 and 6 storeys tall. None have front yards, most open directly on to the street but a few are set back a metre or so. Only a couple have parking entrances and those are secure. At this time of Blue Shift, BB07, many windows are dark, but some are still lit.
About 200m up ahead, in the direction the driver was pointing is a cross street, forming a four-way intersection. There is another such about the same distance behind.
Across the road and behind them, someone comes out of an apartment building and begins walking the other way along the footpath.
If Oliver’s wearing the vest, Fromm will open Alan’s duffle bag and remove his, putting it on.
Chris asks, gesturing to the shotgun in the duffle, “we goin’ in scary, or you want me to keep that in the bag?”
Gear
Ah, okay, my bad.
No, I’m no sure Oliver has tipped anyone in his life.
“Carry it casual if you like but I highly doubt it will be necessary.”
