7-112: Illuminator – Mallory’s Cabin

Who is Oliver Starr?

You have indeed articulated some of the risks of Oliver acting upon his curious nature.

He has made his Control Roll so you have freedom of action on this.

It’s not my place as GM to offer an opinion on the drivers of Oliver’s character.  However, I offer the following question:

Is Oliver curious in service of his pragmatism or because of a more abstract need to know, irrespective of context?

Security Issues

Your GM has thought of two possible attack vectors if Oliver is interested in proceeding; there may be others a cunning player could come up with.

There’s a human/social engineering vector, and there’s a weakness in the setup with the Oliver having physical access to the connection between the computers.

I can give you both more explicitly, but I thought I’d give you an option to construct your own plan if you want.

  1. Oliver Starr says:

I feel it’s more just a desire for information and almost a test of himself.

He’ll try and get in, hopefully without leaving a trace.

I know on Windows you can get in to files from another machine via recovery mode, I had to do it to get photos off a deceased persons laptop.

Otherwise, I think he’ll go for exploiting the connection between the two computers.
