7-106: Illuminator – Crew Accommodation Deck
When he thanks Mallory leaving the Lounge she responds, “It is nothing, it makes it easier for both of us if Nasty isn’t counting Deci’s.”
The cabin is well appointed. It has tiny kitchenette off to one side that has a refrigerator, microwave, sink and bench; there’s a lounge area with comfy chairs and a couch and an alcove with a desk and workstation, the sleeping area is separate but can be opened onto the main area with a large sliding door, and Oliver can see through the open door to the fresher that there is a separate vanity mirror and basin rather than the combined fresher unit in his cabin.
It’s still a starship cabin so it’s not enormous, but it’s decidedly on the luxury side of things. Mallory has set the lighting to a muted warm tone, or perhaps it’s always like this.
Mallory has obviously made herself at home, a travel case is open on one of the chairs with a few drabs of clothing strewn around it, she has a laptop on the desk resting awkwardly on a carry bag with a loose loom of wires trailing to the built-in terminal. The desk is strewn with a papers, unruly looking files and storage widgets strewn around. Near the terminal are several empty glasses and a plate with a half-eaten food pack on it. A towel is piled on the floor near the bathroom door.
“Don’t mind the mess.”
She kicks off her shoes into a small unruly pile of footwear near the door.
“Drink?” she asks and heads for the kitchenette.
Without waiting for Oliver to answer she addresses the computer on the desk, “PDA, play music from my after dinner playlist.”
A deep male voice with slightly flat intonation responds, “yes, Vizier Mallory, playing I Don`t Swim In Lakes by The Paronomasiac,” followed by the cabin being filled with an instrumental techno track.
Mallory has reached the fridge, “what do you want?”
Oliver really minds the mess. He’s used to organised work spaces and his coworkers often hear about it. He does stare at the computers a fair bit.
Is the loom of wires also unruly for a tech-geek?
“Just something sweet please, if you have it. Otherwise, whatever you’re having.”
When she brings it he thanks her.
“Nice music.”
Oliver doesn’t care about music much, I imagine.
