7-075: Illuminator – Senior Staff Lounge
Mallory tilts her head to the side, tip of her tongue visible between her lips.
“Are you sure you are not too forthright to be working for Na…Lilith?”
She blinks slowly and gives a lazy smile, “I haven’t decided yet, but I will reciprocate your candour and tell you when I do. I will say, as a secondary consideration, that I am always on the lookout for good people. Particularly at the moment, good data and cyber people,” playfully, “But I was planning on sounding you out to see if you are as awesome as I am before mentioning that.”
Her face darkens a little, and she seems to have had another thought, but she waits to see if Oliver responds to that before saying more.
“Nanny…” with emphasis… “has only met me in meetings and debriefings. There isn’t much to be forthright about other than answering questions.”
He nods “I would appreciate that. It’s easier to go through these sorts of things without dancing around the issue, I find. Though some cases can always be the exception…”
He smiles at her playful comment. “I’m either really awesome or really expendable to be doing the work I’m doing, otherwise they would’ve just asked someone else.”
