Frederick Message

I’m going to respond to the second item first; a message to Frederick is simple to write technically and will sit in the ship’s comm buffer until Ipan re-connects Spanial to the Message Net when it arrives back in Dominion Space.

As to the content of the message, I’ll ask you to make a social roll to compose something convincing, choose one of:

• Acting
• Diplomacy
• Psychology
• Streetwise
• IQ – 5 as a default for Writing

To confirm, you’re talking about a Net message or a direct transmission from the ship’s communications array?  

Technically, Oliver can write a message to someone to trigger when the ship connects to the Message Net – that’s basically how message net works as in the Frederick example above.  Equally, he can record or compose a message for the ship’s comm array to go out under certain conditions, (though there might be plenty of instances where Karmen would want to override that!)

I think what starts to get a little complex, is in terms of who the message/or transmission might be intended for – ie just the Vizierate, or the Legion as well, and who might listen to Oliver’s authority?  To be clear, he does have some authority – Vizant 4’s are people not generally to be lightly disregarded – but convincing a Legion patrol of that might not be easy and might land Spanial in impound for some time while they figured it out…  

I think you might be able to achieve a similar effect to what you seem to be seeking if you remember (Oliver does) that Vizier Zhenbar gave him a re-activation code for when he wanted to give up being an undercover agent.  One solution might be for Oliver to send Karmen a message (or simply write her a note or give her a widget, but a message can be verified as coming from Oliver’s shipboard inbox which may add some legitimacy) authorising her to quote that code to the Vizierate should she need to.

Of course, that put’s Oliver’s secret re-activation code ‘in the wild’ and not just in his head or buried in secure Vizierate files, so he may not wish to do that.

He could also write such a message to Karmen without the code.

Or he could do nothing re a Flag message and simply rely on the Frederick message to do the job.

So, what would you like to have Oliver do?
