6-232: Administration Bureau Executive Conference Facility
Game Mechanics
So unless I’m mistaken that’s 15 vs 13 (which already includes +2 for Voice), and adjusting for the following situational modifiers:
+3 for Charisma
+2 for Appearance (Adler doesn’t go for girls so it isn’t +6)
+1 For Fashion Sense
-0 As Social Chameleon cancels any Status Penalties in this instance
= success by 4, I believe.
Back at the Party
A flash of anger crossed Adler’s face for a moment at Winta’s words, and now she’s clutching her drink two-handed again. It’s hard to say if she always wears her heart on her sleeve for any stranger who walks up to her at a party. but the anger quickly dissolved and now her face simply looks desolate in the half-dark.
“I don’t know how to do that. He’s so connected, so powerful, so resourceful, so untouchable…
“I brought Eleric here tonight to sound out Panchas Tog and see if the Governor might be receptive to intervening in the Research Lab thing.”
She takes another drink, “It might be something.”
“It might…”
Watching Adler, her expression softens a fraction. She knows she’s being enigmatic and rather harsh but she grew up in this world and she knows how the backroom deals get played. She is beginning to understand why Adler is stuck in Resources in only an Acting title.
However, this is also the exact reason she hated her parents and the world they represented.
Her voice softens to match her expression.
“The trick to the game is to look like you’re playing it. If you can fake it, you can bend it to your will. It’s no use having principles if you’re not in a position to enforce them…”
She will make sure she has Adler’s eye contact.
“Don’t underestimate the power you have. Dragoult is an exceptional resource, as is the information you already possess. Your obsession has led you to the very thing that may be his undoing.”
She glances in Zayaire’s direction.
“The fact that he doesn’t see you as a threat is also an asset…”
Back to Adler.
“You have more ammunition than you think.”
