6-231: Administration Bureau Executive Conference Facility
Adler says, “I do, but he doesn’t use his Bureau’s resources to do that. It’s despicable, but technically legal.”
Lia is silent for a time. She takes a slow sip of her champagne.
“Your focus is clearly Zayaire. Do you think anyone else is involved in this… enterprise? Is he sourcing for himself alone?”
Lia’s observation appears to be correct…
Adler frowns, “I hadn’t considered that. I’ll look into that further.”
“By the sounds of it, it’s no small enterprise. It would seem logical that it might attract… like-minded individuals…”
She takes another sip of champagne.
“What is your opinion of the Under Secretary?”
Adler continues to frown while she processes Winta’s statement about it being a multi-user enterprise.
It takes her a moment to refocus on the change of topic.
(I assume you mean the Assistant Secretary… oh my, what a faux pas! Fortunately I think we can trust Winta to say what she means.)
“He is serious, doesn’t give much away. He is not deliberately or overtly corrupt as far as I can tell, but does have his favourites.”
She looks across to where Zayaire is still chatting with the Birthday Boy and his entourage, the Assistant Secretary has a hint of a smile on his face.
“I’m not one of them.”
She raises an eyebrow and gives Adler a side long look.
“It would appear that you are allowing your principles to impede your advancement. If he can play the game, he will always stay out of your reach.”
She gives her a frank look
“If you want to destroy him, you need to cut him off at the knees professionally, then publicly destroy him.”
I’m going to ask you to make a social roll for that, I recommend Diplomacy.
Hmmm 15 vs 13. 🤐 Missed it by 2.
She’s speaking about Zayaire, not the Assistant Secretary.
