He heads across, nods to someone in passing, delaying long enough for a space to clear then slips in next to the guest of honour.
Assistant Secretary Namasia Markov-Wrikster moves with a kind of stiff formality, however there is warmth, if not enthusiasm in his voice when he says, “Aston, thank you for coming.”
Aston responds, “I wouldn’t have missed it for anything.”
He nods to Namasia’s partner and daughter, “Meleyna, Ahrissa”
Meleyna says, “Bluevening Aston.”
Ahrissa makes the sort of nod someone makes when being forced to be nice to their father’s work colleagues.
Aston gestures toward Winta, “This is my friend Emerald.”
Namaisia turns toward her, “Lovely to meet you Emerald.”
“The pleasure is all mine, Assistant Secretary.”
She gives him a charming smile and extends her hand, exerting a warm pressure.
“This is quite the glittering affair.”
Question: Would something like this have been ‘designed’ by some underling or would his wife have had some input into certain design choices?
