6-085: Mundo Zargo Highport – Net Terminal Corrals

Lia will find an alcove with four PublicNet terminal corrals a little way along the Concourse.

Two of the terminals are being used by:  Someone who looks like they might be an off-duty Legionnaire; and, a starship crew member with one of the big ships (the uniform with the patch identifying the ship is a dead giveaway.)

The other two are free.

Emerald Winta Page Posts

NB:  A page post is different to an Net Message (email).

Every Dominion citizen has a PublicNet account.  When you logon to a public terminal you do so with your ID Tag and a thumbprint, Net Messages you send are identified as being from you (eg:  Lia Silver-RoseU-201423-VV-LJS-01-002-F).

A page post is like leaving a comment.  Lia can choose whether to set up her Winta page with anonymous comments or identified comments.  Identified comments mean that poster’s comments are identified using their Public Net account.  Anonymous comments are just that.  Lia understands that the Legion or the Vizierate can track all Public Net useage, but generally have no reason to do so.

How would Lia like to set up her Winta page?

Pros:  Safer for Lia to use identified comments.

Cons:  Identified comments will probably deter a lot of business.

Sweet E,

I have a party on <Lia Day 5>.  Starts at BYY in the Upper Habitat.  I’d love to engage your services for the Bluevening if you’re free.

Can’t make it to Mundo Zargo right now.  Disappointed.

Where are you headed next, and when?

R.

Subject:  Catalogue Update

Dear Valued Customer,

as requested your catalogue update to your standard set of services is attached at this [Link].

Net Terminal Corrals

  • The Winta Page is set up such that Lia can leave messages for posters and only they can see them.
  • If Lia is using identified comments:
    • The R message will be from a random H class woman that Lia recognises as Raina’s alias.
    • The ‘Happy Endings’ message is from an unrecognised ID (details to be provided if she decides she’s using identified comments)
  • Because of the Dominion’s restrictive rules about use of the Public Net, private companies who want an online presence employ Mediaries who spruik for the company using their personal Net ID – there’s no concept of a Corporation as a separate legal identity in the Dominion; the closest is a Private Partnership.
  • Lia receives a stock message from Zael’s like this once every 30 Cycles – it means her identity is still safe and her subscription payment is due as usual.  Changes in the wording indicate potential compromises or that there is the possibility to exchange services for a payment reduction.  If Lia clicks on the link, it goes to a Net Page for a Mail-order Catalogue company.

Now what?

  1. Lia Silver-Rose says:

I think she has reached the point in her chosen career where safety is more important than the number of clients she might attract, especially considering how much she charges. Let’s go with identified comments for now.

Two questions about Aston’s comment – does she know what E he is referring to – I assume it stands for Emerald – and what day is she currently on?

She will send this to Raina:

    R,

Will be here 4 or 5 days but not sure where next yet. Will let you know when I know more.

    How disappointed?

    xx

I’m assuming that catalogue message was the standard kind, not one with variations, in which case Lia will send through the full amount of her debt.
