“I don’t think it’s anything serious. Been getting an intermittent fault with one of the environmental systems. I’ll have a quick look and if I can’t fix it I’ll call the Engineering boys. Cap says she might want to take the shuttle ahead so we don’t need any problems.”
He leans into the panel again and there is a whirring noise.
“You want to come along with us if we go?”
If there’s a slot for the power driver, she’ll put it away otherwise she’ll sit it neatly wherever is convenient and to hand.
“I’d love to but Jennie said something about the Captain wanting me to handle the freight if she doesn’t get back in time. I don’t want her to be short handed.”
She takes a step closer, not crowding him but wanting to be useful.
“Anything I can do? I’m good with my hands…”
