6-002: Merchant Freighter Spanial – Common Room

Clothing and Style

Assuming the situation doesn’t call for environment suits…

The engineers (Gregar and Prrri) usually wear coveralls, although Lia has seen Gregar in a neat long-sleeved shirt and pants occasionally.  Prrri is almost always in a coverall, although when she had not been long aboard Lia once saw him in a leather-like outfit that is presumably Felline native clothing.

The bridge crew (Karmen, Jennie and Ipan) are usually in pants and polo shirts (not that anyone in the Dominion has a clue what Polo is…), although colours vary; it’s not a uniform.  Occasionally someone will wear a long-sleeved variant.  Ipan has a daggy-looking T-shirt with a hole in the side that he seems fond of, although he doesn’t wear it when passengers are aboard.  Lia has only recently seen it.

Kwint is usually in a coverall, although he has a couple of nice shirts and pants that he wears when doing formal things with passengers.  Now that Lia has been on the ship for several jumps, he’s starting to wear the coverall more often in her presence.

Everyone wears work shoes with good grip.  Occasionally the engineers or Kwint will be sporting knee and/or elbow pads.

Most have short hair.  Jennie’s is longest and it is almost always tied.  Ipan’s hair is getting a bit woolly and he is currently sporting a wispy mustache; Lia has heard Karmen twitting him about the length of his hair twice now.

The temperature is a constant 22°C in the Habitat ring.

Common Room

Like all rooms in the Habitat Deck, the Common Room is in an arc shape, about 3m wide from the inner curve to the outer curve with a ceiling 2.2m high.  It is about 7m long.

The Common Room walls are a light tan colour, with padding on some sections.  The floor is smooth and pale grey with a little give – like some hospitals.

Lighting is from an illuminated strip running around the intersection of ceiling and walls, the ceiling is a creme colour.

At one end is a Galley with food stores and preparation equipment, near the middle a fold-able dining/meeting table surrounded by four acceleration chairs (and sometimes less ornate folding seats), and at the end is a view screen, folding couch, and portable recreation and gym equipment.

Most of the furnishings are various brown hues, complimenting the walls.  It has a cosy and warm feel, if a little cluttered, even though the space is used very efficiently.

Lia is alone.  She is currently the only passenger aboard and everyone else is at their duty stations for jump exit.

Kwint’s voice comes over the PA, with the local prefix tone indicating he is just transmitting to this room, “Lia, all ok?”

Question:  Is Lia comfortable being called ‘Lia’ by the crew, or has she asked/indicated to them to be more formal?  If so, Kwint will have modified his form of address appropriately.

  1. Lia Silver-Rose says:

She prefers Lia, so that’s fine.

Questions before she replies: Is thisa a standard address/question? One that happens every time this occurs? How familiar is she with Kwint at this stage?
