5-188: Vizier Frederick’s Offices

Nanny Vizier looks over her pince-nez at Oliver and says softly, “I do hope it is as easy as you say.”

She looks around the table again, “Vizier Richard will fill you in on local operational details.

“The Research Ship Illuminator will be leaving dock at BR03, NextCycle.  We will all need to be aboard no later than BR01 and not earlier than GB01.  Cabins will be assigned on arrival.  Vizier Richard and I will provide more detailed instructions as we approach Zargonia.”

She looks at Chris, “we shall see if we can give you some nice toys to play with, dear.  All going well your services shan’t be needed and this will be an easy ride.”

Chris shrugs, “whatever…videos in my cabin or violence as needed is all good.”

Nanny gives him an inscrutable smile, then continues, “broadly, a message sent to this address via VizNet or PubNet will reach me eventually if the correct code is included in the subject line.  I hope I don’t need to stress that that is an emergency option should you be unable to seek direction from Vizier Richard.”

On Oliver’s terminal a VizNet domain message account name appears – Vizier815732.

Oliver would note that that sort of anonymous address is not permitted on PubNet, but apparently the Vizierate gets to make its own rules on VizNet.

Nanny continues, “Of course, dears, I am required to remind you that everything about this project is covered by the Classified Information provisions in the Codex, so don’t go chatting to anyone about what we are doing, because it pains me when I have to enforce those nasty rules.

“Are there any questions?”

  1. Oliver Starr says:

Due to his curiousity, I realised Oliver is probably flicking through Argyles data and seeing if there’s anything he hasn’t read yet. The conversation is probably secondary to him right now and he’s only half listening.

More I think – as a personality quirk – He might just be submitting all the verbal information to his excellent memory and actually go over the conversation by himself later.

He makes a note to be at the Illumimator at GB01.

“Will a similar data cache be provided to me on the ship? Should be no trouble for a research vessel.”
