OK, I’m going to say that ‘bikeday’ is, in fact, an occasionally used slang term for a birthCycle, and no-one really considers its origin; like ‘OK’ or ‘biro’ or ‘malapropism’.

To Lia, Ipan says, “uh, thanks, but you don’t have to do that.  Kwint’s cakes seem a bit of a tradition, but we don’t usually get each other anything.”  He prods the parcel in front of him with a finger, says quietly, “Wasn’t even expecting anything from Ma, to be honest.”

It is true, that there was a cake and a bit of a celebration for Lia’s birthCycle-bikeday when she returned from Loyalists’ Rock, but there weren’t gifts.
