5-073b: Legion Cast – Target Range
She hesitates, apparently before deciding she will speak, “We have a delicate balance with you, Oliver. You’re a Special Recruit and we don’t want to advertise that you’re here, but we don’t want to draw attention to you being here by being too secretive. We’re trying to keep you away from other members in a casual way without actively hiding you. I will be following up with that Legionnaire to see if that really was as innocent as it seemed.”
Oliver can, of course, choose to respond or not.
Presently, Felicity leads him to an indoor shooting range.
Inside is a lone Legion Operations Sub Officer who she introduces as Range Master Wales.
SOF Wales will ask Oliver if he has any experience with firearms, and then irrespective of his answer will take him through exactly the same firearms-for-idiot-civilians safety drill and Range Rules lecture.
Then Oliver gets to try out an electrolaser pistol, an electrolaser rifle, a kinetic pistol (gun with bullets) and a kinetic rifle against the practice targets at the end of the room.
Give me two rolls for each, please.
- He’s skilled in Beam Pistol, plus I am happy to rule that he first learned to shoot a Beam Pistol at his mother’s behest and so has Familiarity with the Legion’s standard issue electrolaser pistol, so no familiarity penalties apply.
- You can decide otherwise, of course, if you imagined him learning to shoot in some other circumstance.
- He’s unskilled in Beam Rifle, but can use his Beam Pistol as a Default; he’s unlikely to be Familiar.
- He’s unskilled in Kinetic Pistol, but can use his Beam Pistol as a Default; he’s unlikely to be Familiar.
- He’s unskilled in Kinetic Rifle, and his Beam Pistol skill won’t help so he will be shooting off his DX as a Default; he’s very unlikely to be Familiar.
Felicity will stay and watch as he shoots, standing behind him and slightly to one side…
“He simply asked what I was doing there, I said I was waiting for you. He didn’t ask my name or anything else. My response seems to have satisfied him.”
In reponse to Wales, “Yes, sir. I’ve been trained in the use of an electrolazer pistol, much like the one you have here.”
